Mewa Mandoya
from $22.00
The Mewa milling station is located in the district of West Arsi, pronounced "Arisi" in the local language Oromo. The Oromo people are the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia, being roughly a third of the 123 million population.
A significant day for the Oromo people is Irreecha, an annual thanksgiving festival that celebrates the end of the rainy season and arrival of the sunny season. Symbolising hope, peace and gratitude, it is a time when the Oromo gather around rivers and lakes and give thanks to Waaqa (God) for life's blessings and harvest to come.
